spiced apple smoothie

quick, easy, vibrant, and clean: this spiced apple smoothie is like pie in a glass : a great way to start the day | vegan, gluten-free, refined sugar-free
ingredients
  • 1 small frozen banana
  • ⅓ cup applesauce
  • 2-3 tablespoons hemp hearts
  • 1 tablespoon chia, optional
  • 1 cup or more liquid (kombucha, plant milk, apple cider, or a combination)
  • a few ice cubes
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch (1/8 teaspoon) ground nutmeg
  • pinch (1/8 teaspoon) ground cloves
  • honey or maple syrup, optional
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
instructions
  1. place ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. sweeten if desired. pour into a pint-sized glass or mason jar and enjoy.
notes
i used a banana for some substance and the beautiful creamy consistency it provides and i didn't find it's flavor to be strong or even that noticeable in this smoothie, but if you reeeeally hate bananas, use frozen mango or pineapple instead. i think that would be totally delicious. brb while i go make myself a pineapple-squared smoothie. get it? because pineapple + apple...
